Run Bhopal Run organised 5km Diet Run to aware people about Anaemia

Anaemia is a condition in which the blood doesn’t have enough healthy red blood cells. It is very common in India. Around 10 million cases has been registered per year. Citizen’s growing inclination towards junk food also made this very common in this days. With an intention to make people aware about this condition and how it can be cured with healthy diet, Run Bhopal Run organised a 5k Diet Run on January 10. Around 200 participants gathered at SLK Nimbus Arcade on Thursday morning around 7:30 am, where under the guidance of Dietician Dr. Amita Singh, who is also an ambassador of RBR, other 15 dieticians and promoters of RBR discussed about anaemia. They discussed with the participants that awareness is the first step to prevention, which in turn is better than cure. Constant vigilance about your Hb levels and a sharp eye on your diet can ensure you avoid iron-deficiency anaemia.

It was a successful event this is proved by the participation of the bhopalites. During this Diet run they got to know about the importance of diet run. Like a balanced diet is important because your body needs proper nutrition to work effectively. It help you maintain a healthy weight, reduce body fat. Also let you prevent yourselves from being prone to diseases. Providing a better and happier lifestyle. A session was also taken in which the causes, symptoms and cure of this Anaemia was also discussed. Healthy snacks were served to the participants and the goodness of the those items was explained by the dieticians present there.

Increase Iron content in your diet : Dr. Amita Singh
Dr. Singh said to the participants that anemia at the initial stage can be cured with the right diet. Ones needs to increase iron content in the diet to get rid of this condition. Besides eating food rich in iron, one should also consume foods rich in Vitamin C (citrus fruits, broccoli, fruit juices, strawberries) to facilitate better absorption of iron in the body. Also remember, iron intake should be within recommended limits, excessive iron intake can also have detrimental effects on one’s health.

The event then started with 15 min Zumba session, conducted by Neha Kedare. The flag off was done by the ambassador and promoters at 8 am. After completing 5 km route, the participants ended the run at Nimbus Arcade. Where an iron rich breakfast of Poha, dry fruits, Bhel and soup was served to all the participants by Natures bar situated at Nimbus Arcade. 15 dieticians of the city led the marathon before the run. The dieticians addressed everybody about the importance of balanced diet to avoid being anaemic. We get positive feedback from all the participants. They all appreciated this initiative and loved to be a part of this cause.
