The lockdowns around the world have led to millions of people being shut in at home, unable to go about their normal lives, and quite frankly, becoming increasingly bored. This creativity doesn't only manifest itself as art, but also as problem-solving. We are much better at coming up with creative solutions to problems if we have had a period of boredom first. Research proves that boredom can be a creative force. Therefore from cooking to painting, people stuck at home are finding new space for creativity.

Amid quarantine and the coronavirus pandemic, we may be struggling to get out of bed and relive the same day, over and over again, but it won’t hurt to get the creative juices
flowing, especially for your physical and mental health.
Cultivating creativity in lockdown
There is no doubt that creativity is the most important human resource of all. Without creativity, there would be no progress, and we would be forever repeating the same patterns. Rukmani Sarv Abhiyan Samiti aimed to cultivate creativity among homemakers. For such cause, the president of the organization is taking free online classes to teach them crafts and home decor items, making them feel a little happier and busy.
Playing with different hues can be a great way to keep busy, develop your artistic skills and create something that you can be proud of. Art can be so powerful because it makes you escape for a little bit, it puts you in that mindfulness zone, and time passes so quickly. You can actually reflect and say, ‘I did that and it looks good. It fills me with happiness and a great sense of satisfaction. I have crafted a Tribal mask using things available at home, like cardboard, old fabric, laces, glue, colorful paper, stones, and clay. Anybody can make it, it’s easy. I find any difficulties, you can see tutorials on YouTube.

Man is a social animal, and constantly being confined can cause a lot of negative feelings, stress, anxiety, and even depression. Not everyone can easily navigate through these major lifestyle changes. Creativity helps us feel better. It can be anything- painting, cooking, singing, dancing, knitting, playing, and much more. It is extremely important to express one’s self, especially through a creative outlet. The key to creativity is to let your mind wander, to daydream. So this period of lockdown that we are all experiencing all over the world could turn out to be our greatest period of creativity in the whole history of mankind.” - Dr. Vinay Mishra, Senior Psychologist, Author & Professor.
